The City of Wichita is once again inviting residents to participate in Neighborhood Night Out, a nationwide initiative that brings neighbors together and fosters positive relationships with local law enforcement and first responders. This year’s event is set for Tuesday, August 12, 2025.
Neighborhood Night Out is a fantastic opportunity for residents to host block parties, cookouts, or casual gatherings right in their own neighborhoods. It’s a chance to meet new faces, reconnect with familiar ones, and build a safer, more connected community for everyone.

- Strengthen Community Ties: Get to know the people living around you. Stronger neighborhoods are safer and more vibrant.
- Meet First Responders: Registered parties often receive visits from Wichita Police Department officers, Wichita Fire Department firefighters, and even City Council members, providing a unique opportunity for informal interaction and partnership building.
- Free Resources for Your Party: By registering your event with the City, you can benefit from:
- Free reservation of park space (if you choose to host in a local park).
- Free street barricades (while supplies last) for those planning a block party, making it easier and safer to close off your street.

Don’t Miss the Registration Deadline!
To take advantage of these benefits and ensure your party is on the list for potential visits, it is crucial to register your Neighborhood Night Out party by July 22, 2025. Late requests for park reservations, barricades, or street closures cannot be accommodated after this deadline. If you plan to close a street, a completed petition signed by two-thirds of the residents/businesses on both sides of the street is required as part of your registration.
